James joined Jamieson Alexander in 2022 having worked previously in a multi-office firm based in Harrow, North-West London. James specialises in commercial property matters acting for companies and individuals in sales, acquisitions, leasing and various dispositions of commercial property.
James regularly advises on Landlord and Tenant matters relevant to commercial property including leasing, sub-leasing, lease renewals, lease surrenders, assignments and licence for alterations applications, whether acting for Landlord or Tenant.
James also has a detailed knowledge of residential property and is instructed in both statutory and voluntary lease extensions, collective enfranchisements, RTM and Tenant’s Right of First Refusal matters.
James was admitted to the roll of solicitors in 2015 having completed the GDL and LPC at the College of Law in London Bloomsbury. James previously studied as an undergraduate at the University of Sheffield before returning to London to pursue a career in the law.
When not at work James can often be found running or cycling the streets of West London.

Complexity and types of issues you deal with?
Sales and acquisitions of commercial freehold and leasehold property (including auction sales and purchases). Acting for both Landlords and Tenants in grants of new leases, sub-leasing, lease renewals under the Landlord & Tenant Act 1954, assignments, surrenders and licence for alterations applications. Also act and advise on matters involving tenancies at will and licences to occupy.
Acts for residential Landlords and Leaseholders in statutory and voluntary lease extensions and collective enfranchisement procedures in addition to residential purchases and sales.
