Caroline joined Jamieson Alexander in February 2020 as Head of Employment. Caroline has a strong track record with negotiating and litigating cases involving some of the more complex areas of employment law (including sexual harassment and physiological injury claims, health and safety matters, board disputes, shareholder claims, TUPE and employee benefits) in the Employment Tribunal and High Court.
Caroline also provides general HR assistance, advising employers on employee relations issues, including employee exits and severance terms.
Caroline also has extensive experience in advising on corporate/commercial transactions and company disputes involving various employment elements including:
- Asset purchases involving TUPE – Drafting ApA (Asset purchase Agreement) provisions, overseeing and advising on employee/legal due diligence and/or advising on TUPE information and consultation requirements;
- Service provision change TUPE matters – Advising on procurement/service provision tender issues, advising on relevant provisions of proposed service agreements/contracts and advising on all other HR/employee related matters upon securing or losing contracts;
- Restructures – Including those where redundancies are not intended to be made; and
- Board level exists – Advising on removing directors (under the Companies Act), as well as processes/procedures for a fair dismissal.
Caroline can also assist with standalone TUPE advice and M&A and corporate transactions and has experience in drafting terms and conditions for a wide range of companies, reviewing and amending commercial agreements and advising on debt recovery and settlement agreements.
Caroline has an honours LLB Law with Sociology degree from Keele University and undertook her Legal Practice Course at Anglia Ruskin University. Caroline trained at a regional firm in Essex before moving to work in a boutique employment law firm in the City of London shortly after qualification in 2010. Caroline was a Director (from November 2012 to October 2017) and then Partner and Head of Employment at a regional firm in north Kent/south east London firm before joining Jamieson Alexander.
